Worry Bugs
EDUCATIONAL STORY

Worry Bugs an educational activity about worry

Description Worry Bugs are a fun, colorful, and engaging way to teach children about worry and anxiety. Children will choose one of fifteen unique bugs, name them, and then complete games and activities related to worry. Each activity has a psychoeducation component that teaches general knowledge, triggers, warning signs, coping skills, and more. After completing each activity, visit the review section to print a colorful summary worksheet of the information, and your client's responses to questions. Suggested Uses Education: Introduce children to the topic of worry by covering the basics. What is worry? Is it normal to worry? How can I worry less? These questions, and more, are answered throughout the activity. Coping Skills: Let your clients choose their favorite coping and relaxation skills from a series of coping cards, or let them create their own. Then, in the review section, print a sheet of their favorite cards for practice.

Where I Feel
EDUCATIONAL STORY

Where I Feel emotion identification activity

Description Before a person can learn to manage their emotions, they must learn to identify them. Like most skills, identifying emotions can be learned, practiced, and improved. For children, identifying emotions as they're occurring is an especially tall challenge. Even adults, with a lifetime of experience, are often caught off-guard by their feelings. One technique that anyone can use to better spot emotions is to learn about the clues their body gives. Many emotion clues come in the form of physical sensations. For example, a person who is angry might turn red, and feel hot in the face. As their anger progresses, they may clench their fists and begin to tremble. In the Where I Feel interactive activity, your clients will draw where they feel various emotions throughout their body. This creates a great opportunity to help your clients explore and identify their personal emotion clues. When done, the drawing can be printed or saved as a graphic. Suggested Uses Teach Emotion Words & Symptoms: Help children name and identify basic emotions, and where they exist within their bodies. What does it feel like to be happy? Sad? Worried? Try discussing specific examples the child has experienced. Session Check-In: When used as a check-in, ask clients to draw where they have felt emotions during the past week, or at that very moment in session. Exploration: After a sharing a story, this activity may be used to look for emotional clues. What sensations might your client notice next time they're in a similar situation, and what might these clues tell them about their emotional state?

RAIN Guided Meditation
EDUCATIONAL STORY

RAIN Guided Meditation guided audio activity

Description Mindfulness is a nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment. It involves awareness of one’s own thoughts, feelings, and sensations. RAIN is an acronym for a mindfulness practice in which you… Recognize your experience, Allow it to be just as it is, Investigate it with curiosity, and Nurture it with kindness and self-compassion. The RAIN acronym was coined by meditation teacher Michele McDonald and further developed by psychologist and Buddhist teacher, Tara Brach. The RAIN Guided Meditation takes clients through the four steps of RAIN. Professionally recorded audio helps clients slow down, take a break in their day, and fully immerse themselves in the activity. Note: Once launching the tool, you may download this audio to carry with you on a portable device, or send to clients electronically. Simply click the "Settings" button (gear icon) in the top right corner of the screen. Suggested Uses Education: Learn the concept of RAIN, and how to use it in daily life. This practice can help with emotional tolerance and acceptance. Download: You may download a copy of the RAIN exercise audio in MP3 format so you can take it with you, or to share with clients so they can practice outside of session. Mindfulness practice is an effective intervention for depression, anxiety, and addiction. The benefits of mindfulness practice add up over time, so this exercise can be done daily, or as often as the client needs.
